Admin Pay Assessment

Is your leadership stipend fair for what they're asking you to do?

Tell us about your administrative or leadership role below. We'll compare your stipend against market rates for your specialty and title level. At minimum, enter your specialty, title, and weekly hours.

Broader scope and more direct reports support higher compensation at the same title level.

Teaching Pay Assessment

Is your teaching compensation fair for what they're asking you to do?

Tell us about your teaching responsibilities below. We'll compare your compensation against market rates based on the type of teaching: rounding with residents uses an inefficiency-adjusted clinical rate, while lectures and didactic teaching use academic faculty rates.

Rounding with Residents
When residents are in your clinic or OR, patient care takes longer. This section calculates the fair value of that lost productivity.
Lectures & Didactic Teaching
Grand rounds, conferences, formal lectures, resident evaluations, and committee work. Full hourly rate applies — you're not seeing patients during this time.

APP Supervision Stipend

Are you being compensated fairly for supervising APPs?

57% of physicians who supervise APPs receive a separate stipend — the other 43% have it buried in their base salary and may not realize they're doing uncompensated work. Tell us about your supervision arrangement and we'll show you what the market pays.

Help & About

How salaryMD works, what you're getting, and why it matters

Frequently Asked Questions
I'm already paid competitively. Is this still worth it?
Most physicians who believe they're paid competitively are comparing against incomplete information — word of mouth, job postings, or a single data source. salaryMD blends multiple data sources, adjusts for your exact geography, and breaks down every component of your offer separately. Physicians routinely discover their base salary is at the 60th percentile but their wRVU threshold is at the 80th — meaning they're working harder than the market expects for that pay. Even well-compensated physicians find optimization opportunities in sign-on structure, call pay, and benefits when they see the full picture.
What if I'm not negotiating right now?
You don't need to be in active negotiations to benefit. Many physicians use salaryMD to understand their current position ahead of contract renewals, annual reviews, or future job changes. Having precise market data before you need it puts you in a stronger position when the time comes. Think of it as preparation, not reaction.
Is this worth $399?
Contract review services charge $500–$2,500 and take 3–5 business days with a human reading your contract. salaryMD delivers a more detailed analysis — covering base comp, call pay, admin stipends, teaching rates, and APP supervision — in seconds. If our report helps you negotiate even 1% more on a $500K contract, that's $5,000 back in your pocket — a 12x return.
How detailed is the analysis?
Your report includes percentile rankings for every component of your offer — base salary, total compensation, wRVU targets, sign-on bonus, and $/wRVU. Each is compared against data specific to your specialty and ZIP code. You'll see where you stand at the 25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentiles, plus an overall assessment with national and local medians. Call pay, admin stipends, and teaching comp are analyzed separately if they're part of your offer.
Do you work with all specialties?
salaryMD covers physician and advanced practice provider compensation across all major specialties — from primary care to highly specialized surgical and procedural fields. Our data includes specialty-specific data for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and CRNAs. If published market data exists for your specialty, we have it.
I'm a new graduate — can this help me?
Especially. New graduates have the least market knowledge and the most at stake. Your first contract often sets the trajectory for years of future earnings. salaryMD shows you exactly where an offer falls relative to the market so you can negotiate from data, not guesswork. We also compare sign-on bonuses, relocation allowances, and loan forgiveness terms that are common in new graduate offers.
I'm in academics — do you have data for that?
Yes. Our data sources include data for academic and non-academic positions. Academic compensation typically falls below private sector numbers, but the gap varies significantly by specialty and institution type. salaryMD helps you understand whether your academic offer is competitive within the academic market and how it compares to non-academic alternatives.
What about my specific state or city?
salaryMD adjusts every number down to your ZIP code. Enter the ZIP where the position is located and we tailor the data to reflect your specific market. A cardiologist in Manhattan gets different numbers than a cardiologist in rural Iowa — because the cost of practice, cost of living, and physician supply are fundamentally different.
How long does this take?
About 5 minutes to enter your offer details. Your report generates instantly — no waiting period, no scheduling a call, no 48-hour turnaround. You get your data the moment you submit.
About the Data
Where does the data come from?
The same compensation surveys your employer uses to set your offer — we just put them to work for you instead. salaryMD blends multiple industry-standard sources into a single picture that's more complete than any one survey alone. We don't use crowdsourced salary posts or self-reported data.
What do I actually get?
For your specialty and location: total cash compensation, base salary, wRVU targets, $/wRVU, sign-on bonuses, and benefits data — all at key percentile levels so you can see exactly where your offer falls. Call pay, admin stipends, and teaching comp are analyzed separately. Everything is adjusted to your specific market.
How current is the data?
Core data is refreshed annually when new survey results publish. Between refreshes, values are kept current using standard cost-of-living adjustments — the same approach health systems use. Every number includes a clear label so you always know how fresh it is.
How much data is behind this?
Tens of thousands of physician compensation data points across specialties and practice settings. We require minimum thresholds before showing any number — if the data isn't strong enough, we tell you.
Trust & Privacy
Can I trust the numbers?
salaryMD is built by people who work in physician compensation — not a generic salary aggregator. The data comes from the same surveys used by hospitals, health systems, and compensation consultants to design physician pay plans. If anything, you're seeing what the other side of the table already knows.
How does the analysis work?
We blend multiple data sources, adjust for your local market, keep numbers current over time, and fine-tune for your specialty. The specifics of our approach are proprietary — that's part of the value — but it's built and maintained by people with real experience setting physician pay.
Is my information safe?
Your data is never shared with employers, recruiters, or anyone else. We don't sell user data. Your offer details are visible only to you. We use industry-standard encryption and don't store anything beyond what's needed for your report.
Who built salaryMD?
Healthcare professionals who got tired of watching physicians walk into contract negotiations without the same data sitting on the other side of the table. Our team has direct experience in physician compensation, healthcare operations, and the survey data that drives it all.
Important Notice: salaryMD helps you understand how your offer compares to the market. It does not provide financial, legal, employment, or tax advice. The numbers reflect market data and may not capture every factor in your situation. Always consult qualified professionals (attorneys, financial advisors, accountants) before making compensation or employment decisions. salaryMD is not affiliated with any survey publisher, hospital system, or staffing organization.

Plans & Pricing

Common Questions
Will I get charged again?
No. Both plans are one-time purchases. You pay once, you get your briefing, that's it. No recurring charges, no auto-renew.
Why $399? Contract review services charge $500+.
They do — and they require humans to read your contract, pull data, and write a review over 3–5 business days. salaryMD delivers a more detailed analysis, covering more compensation components, in seconds. No scheduling, no waiting. Same caliber of data, better depth, fraction of the time and cost.
What's the difference between One Contract and Multiple Offers?
One Contract gives you a full compensation briefing for a single offer. Multiple Offers lets you run briefings for up to 3 offers side by side — perfect if you're comparing competing offers or need to model different scenarios.
Where does the data come from?
We blend multiple institutional compensation surveys — the same sources your employer uses when setting your offer. Every number is adjusted to your specific location. We don't use crowd-sourced, self-reported, or unverified data.
How to Think About It
One report can change a negotiation
If the data helps you negotiate even 1% more on a $500K salary, $399 pays for itself 12x over — in the first year alone.
Think Carfax, not Netflix
You don't need a monthly subscription to compensation data. You need it at specific moments — and that's exactly how we've priced it.
More detailed than a $500 contract review
Most review services assess base salary and a few terms. We analyze call pay, admin stipends, teaching rates, APP supervision, and local market differences — all in one report.
